Augmented Intuition (Mark Ramondt LC22)
Augmented Intuition — Mark Paul Ramondt The premise: what's accelerating isn't change itself, it's the information about change. We process roughly 74 GB a day, five times more than in 1986, while conscious processing caps out around 120 bits per second. The world feels faster than it actually is. The consequence: overload shows up as mental exhaustion, poor concentration, and harder decisions. AI helps filter information but also speeds up how much gets created. Meanwhile the horizon of predictability keeps shrinking. Five-year plans feel fragile, ten-year visions speculative, twenty-year forecasts meaningless. Yet the decisions still have to be made, about careers, about strategy, about people. The counterintuitive move: the answer isn't more data or better tools. It's relying on less. Leaders should lean on practiced, tested intuition rather than waiting for certainty. Colin Powell's 40-70 rule captures it: decide with 40% to 70% of the information. Below 40% the risk is too high, above 70% the decision gets made for you. Intuition vs. instinct: instinct is hardwired, automatic, reactive, built for survival. Augmented intuition is deliberate, built through experience, exposure, and trusted communities. Its five components: Recognizing your own wisdom as a successful leader
Shifting perspective from searching to creating
Microdosing innovation to stay calibrated to the present
Reconnecting with intuition over data when deciding
Communicating with conviction to drive transformation The conclusion: the leaders who keep having impact aren't the ones with the most information. They're the ones who can act without it. This isn't a rejection of data or technology, it's the recognition that in a world of unlimited information, the scarce resource is a leader's intuition. Closes with Shaw: "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself."
